Digital Detox: A True Nature Escape at Chalet Fogajard
Unplug in Madonna di Campiglio to reconnect with yourself, immerse yourself in nature, and simply relax.
When Chalet Fogajard was born in 2010, it came from a very specific idea: to guide our guests into a dimension “parallel” to the life each person has built around themselves.
What I call our “constructed life” is filled with unfamiliar sounds, endless pings, constant glances at a screen, and arms raised high, clutching the latest gadget in a desperate search for a signal…
What is Digital Detox?
Digital Detox is a relatively new yet increasingly relevant phenomenon: the growing need to disconnect. But disconnect from what?
From the digital world that, while making our lives considerably easier, can also become a source of stress. A world that keeps us constantly online, expecting us to reply to texts and voice messages, answer calls, and endlessly check notifications and status updates.
A life filled with conversations in which we never look into the eyes of the person sitting across from us, our gaze instead forever fixed on a small glowing screen, always waiting for some supposedly important news, some supposedly essential message, or yet another unmissable image posted by complete strangers we will never meet in our lifetime.
Yes, because the opinion of a stranger is becoming more important to us than a conversation with our partner, a hearty laugh with our child, or sharing a couple of tears with our best friend—whether those tears are tears of joy or anger… We prefer a string of meaningless emojis to express how we feel. It’s easier. Less demanding.
We used to come home from our travels filled with enthusiasm, having truly “switched off”, even if only for a week. We experienced everything more intensely, and when we returned, we couldn’t wait to see one another again and share our stories, perhaps looking together at the photographs we had taken during an extraordinary journey.
Not anymore. Now, everything has to be immediate. We arrive somewhere and immediately feel the need to post a photo with the “location” (how I hate that word). We sit down at a restaurant table and the first thing we do is photograph the dish and post it, before we have even tasted it. We visit a famous place and, automatically, there comes the selfie proclaiming: “I was here.” We no longer experience a place. But it’s not too late.
Chalet Fogajard was created with the intention of offering you a truly meaningful travel experience: the chance to discover an extraordinary place like the Brenta Dolomites and, most importantly, to experience it with the people you love most, looking them in the eyes.
Perhaps not everyone can understand us or appreciate what we stand for. But when, back in 2010, we decided that this would be one of our goals—and that we would become the first accommodation in Trentino to offer a Digital Detox experience—we felt a little like visionaries.
We are convinced that the need for this kind of escape will only grow, and that Chalet Fogajard will always welcome with open arms those who wish to reclaim, even if only for a little while, their most precious possession: their time.
Choosing to spend your holiday at Chalet Fogajard means choosing to disconnect. There is no Wi-Fi in our rooms or restaurant (although it is available upon request). At first, you may feel a little lost. You might have an irresistible urge to open Facebook or post a picture of our finest dish on Instagram… But we promise that, little by little, you will rediscover the pleasure of sharing this magical place at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites with your loved one, your family, or the friends you came here to spend your holiday with.
If the thought of not being able to instantly share every moment of your holiday with friends and followers feels a little daunting, you can take it one step at a time and try this experience, as unusual as it is rewarding, by choosing our restaurant for a delicious zero-kilometre lunch or dinner.

The time for a true Digital Detox holiday is NOW!
I don’t think there has ever been a time when a Digital Detox in Madonna di Campiglio has been more necessary than now, given what we have been through and are still going through. For more than a year now, our interpersonal relationships have been confined to the screen of a smartphone or a computer.
Without even mentioning our grandparents, who were forced into isolation and had to adapt to technology that was often difficult for them to understand; or the children and teenagers, like our own kids, who, between remote learning and being deprived of social interaction, will carry the consequences of this period with them… unless we act quickly with long periods of Digital Detox—returning to beauty, to a sense of wonder, to passion, to sport and, why not, to the healthy kind of boredom that gives us time to reflect.
And then there’s you, the “middle generation,” the majority of our regular guests, who, on top of maintaining interpersonal relationships via smartphone, have had to carry out most, if not all, of their work while constantly connected.
And so, you may ask, what’s the solution? We don’t have any solutions, but a stay at Chalet Fogajard in Madonna di Campiglio, approached with the right mindset and a willingness to embrace at least a period of Digital Detox, is certainly a good starting point for reclaiming your time. Your real time. The genuine, tangible kind—not the virtual one.
At Chalet Fogajard, you’ll have the opportunity to switch all your devices OFF and switch your life and your relationships ON.
One of the first steps is to let go of thoughts about what will need to be organized when you return, your commitments, and your new work projects. Stop. You’re on holiday, so your mind should be free and light. Simply managing to do this will stop you from constantly checking your phone and, why not, you might even forget about it. Bring a camera with you, like we used to do in the old days. It will keep you from reaching for your smartphone every time you want to take a photo or capture a memory. Carry those memories with you in your heart; there’s no need to share them online immediately with people who aren’t there with you.
